Aventuria Strategy Blog – Adventure Ranking

Aventuria Strategy Blog – Adventure Ranking

Once you’ve started to dive into the adventure mode of the Aventuria Card Game, you will quickly see that there are many choices for how to run your group through the various scenarios. Obviously any individual adventure will vary in difficulty depending on what Time Scale you use, but the adventures themselves also vary in both challenge and complexity.

I have set up my own ratings for the adventures, and I will share those with you here. Other players might have different assessments for how they rate the adventures, but here are the criteria I use:

Skill Check Difficulty

This rating (low/medium/high) is based on how harsh the skill checks are leading up to the combat. If most of them are good on a success and indifferent on a failure, or if they have fairly low penalties even when you do fail badly, then I might rate that as low. If you successes are indifferent and failures get harsh, then the rating goes up. I also base this somewhat on whether every hero has to make the harder rolls or just one.

Combat Difficulty

This rating (low/medium/high) covers both the complexity of the combat setup and the additional environmental factors involved. If it’s a straightforward “pound the henchmen” fight, that’s going to be low. If there’s a demon, or rising water, or leader actions, all those can raise the rating.

Leader Difficulty

This rating (low/medium/high) covers the leader or leaders involved in the fight. If they have many harsh actions and are hard to kill, they will be rated high. If they are not very threatening or easy to kill (once you meet the criteria, like guessing a kobold’s name) then they will be rated lower.

I have offered some additional comments on some of the adventures, but most of them are rated simply using these criteria.
