Re: Alert Call from Japan: to prevent inheriting oTorg Nippon Tech Real-Life discriminatory term controversy to TorgE

I didn't know what was meant by "b-word" either. I had no idea of this issue, so I'm glad you brought this up. I know that L5R uses eta in their terminology. Does that have the same real-world baggage associated with it? I imagine the same care will have to be taken when dealing with the s...

Re: Home brew Cosm ideas

Well, how the numbers are generated would be trivial. You could just whip up a Googles Sheet with formula of RANDBETWEEN(1, 30) for the same effect. No actual dice needed. It'd be more fun with a prize. I don't know if we can sweet-talk Ulisses into providing Possibility chips as a prize. I imagine ...

Re: Home brew Cosm ideas

I feel like there needs to be a contest called Iron Chef Cosm Write-up.

The host randomly generates four axiom values. Contestants have 2 weeks to write up a cosm idea. Then the viewers have a week to vote on their favorite write-up. The winner gets some sort of swag. Repeat in the following month.

Re: Card Questions v 2.0

And some cards have potential never achieved. I played a Living Land adventure where we didn't encounter any edeinos, so Eyes of the Saar didn't come into play. If your Orrorsh adventure takes place entirely in the sunlight, then Lights Out has no use. Some cards are only useful if a Storm Knight g...

Re: Is it possible for a High Lord to disrupt another cosm's stela/bridge by dropping their own?

I feel like there's a cosmic equation that defines the dividing line between working together and betraying everyone else. Of course, this equation is really defined by the speed of plot. Each High Lord has impetus to work with the others because if someone goes all Lone Wolf early on, then the adva...

Re: Card Questions v 2.0

Heh, heh, I have had players exclaim that they already spent their card when I pull a cosm change on them. I don't do it often, but it's a hazard of the game. The Secret Identity card specifically refers to the cardholder revealing their identity to heal a wound and gain a Possibility. I feel that c...

Re: Card Questions v 2.0

I feel that they did a good job with the very specific cards that hose certain PCs. Tharkold has a card that screws over Storm Knight psychics, but if your group has none, then you replace it. Cyberpapacy has one that screws over Storm Knight spellcasters. Again, you replace it if it doesn't apply. ...

Re: Card Questions v 2.0

That's a fair question. My own personal philosophy is that not all cosm cards will be useful. You might go through Aysle and never have a chance to use your courtly card. The Living Land card, Eyes of the Saar, could conceivably not enter play because you never encounter any edeinos. Some cards have...

Re: Beta Doesn't seam to be a big enough deal

Beta is a little weird because the GM gets a big power boost while players just get access to powerful new perks which they may not really want or need, or be able to afford right away. So it can feel like a nerf for some a buff or a wash for others. But in reality it's mostly just a milestone. You...

Re: Breathe Fire seams really powerful

I think there's a case for Strike, because that affects your damage , which comes after your skill check. But there are similar issues with things like Copycat, Energize, Haste... anything with the 3-round duration that only affects yourself. My assumption, frankly, has been that they start when th...
