So it sounds like these types of abilities are similar to the Adrenalin, Willpower, and Action cards. They give bonuses to the applicable test, but they cannot be played to affect derived values. I can use an Adrenalin card to punch a foe or lift a gate, but I could not use it to deflect a sword or ...
