Re: Whip tail question

Okay, it will be errattaed but by removing the "when you attack in this way." So Death Claws and Whip Tail do stack. Whoa, brutal. But then it does cost two perks, and that ain't cheap. Thanks for clearing that up. Wandering back on topic... Favored Combat skills are somewhere between Oka...

Re: How long does it take you to run an act?

Tips for speedy game play. Have the charts handy. Bookmark the PDF, print them out, whatever. 30 second rule. If you can't find a rule in 30 seconds, make a decision, move on. If it's important, write it down, figure it out after the game. Turn order, if your players can't decide who goes first just...

Re: Rules questions after running a session

2.25 Ords per Storm Knight isn't a difficult encounter. I don't think it's the amount of ords that is the challenge, but the nature of them. High Dex, High Toughness, low Mind, low Charisma, very stabby, sure. Again, the Day One Living Land adventure throws similar and higher numbers of Dino's and ...

Re: Rules questions after running a session

And yet you're finding encounters that the designer thinks should be difficult to be 'softball'. 2.25 Ords per Storm Knight isn't a difficult encounter. The "Day One" acts throw the same and more at characters that are deliberately under equipped and built as Office Workers, not Action He...

Re: Rules questions after running a session

24 Missile Weapon skill four or five LAW Rockets ... which is nothing like we see in any of the pregens. What if you don't want to play min-maxed characters? I'd argue that taking the Wealthy Perk and simply spending the money on the equipment in the core book isn't particularly out of line. The Ni...

Re: Rules questions after running a session

Eh... once the Nile Pulp hero with a 24 Missile Weapon skill got clear of the scrum the situation resolved itself rather quickly. The Russian Arms dealer took care of the pair of triceratops (Setback popped up...) with one of his four or five LAW Rockets. It seemed like just another day at the offic...

Re: Eliminating the Cards

P>S. I agree with you about characters. I've never felt the character system caught the depth of difference there shouold be. Under the "covers" many characters seem to be virtually the same in what they can do and how. Most "rules light" systems are that way. And looking at jus...

Re: Eliminating the Cards

I'd caution that the Card system is really the only system in the game that has a learning curve for experienced gamers. If you pull that out, Torg gets dead simple, and basically becomes Fate with a couple pages of charts and tables thrown in. And with higher stats and a steady stream of Possibilit...

Re: Rules questions after running a session

My play experience with a bunch of first time Torg players was a bit rough for the first fight. I threw them a softball encounter and they struggled a bit with the system but they handled it and learned. 4 Players vs. 8 Edienos Warriors and a Gotek. Couple wounds that were immediately patched up wit...

Re: Rules questions after running a session

It seems off that the average attribute range for a character is 6-7 if the standard difficulty number for skill tests is 10. If a character has a 7 Mind and 1 add in a skill, say computers, she would have to roll a 15 or better to succeed – meaning she would only succeeded at a standard difficulty...
