Re: Cyberdeck - why not cyberware?

I suspect that this is strictly a genre trope that goes back to Gibson and Neuromancer . Entering the matrix requires a big plot doohicky the size of an electronic keyboard, because that's how it was in that one book and because it's cool. This is the same book where the protagonist was involved in ...

Re: Playlist for Cosms

I am (slowly) working on an Aysle-centric game, and the soundtrack for Aysle-conquered Earth is going to be strictly acoustic, instrumental covers of popular Earth music. This sort of thing. The idea is to convey the atmosphere that this is Earth under an evil spell, not generic fantasyland. The sur...

Re: Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China

He doesn't need a truck (or even any adds in land vehicles!), he doesn't have it for the entire movie. It's just a plot bit. If the player had spent a perk on having a truck, they'd be justifiably annoyed if the GM took it away for the entire 1st adventure... That's the joke, he spent all his Perks...

Re: Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China

I would argue for a homebrewed "overpowered" version of Wealthy, because he has a truck and by the rules that costs $120k. Jack Burton rarely succeeds at anything. He loses fights with mooks, he knocks himself out dropping rocks on his own head, he fails to crack on to the hot journalist.....

Re: Stacking Clarification

I'm going to just say, the idea that punching someone with a fist wrapped in metal would cause you to do less damage than punching them with the same fist not wrapped in metal seems more than a little absurd to me. Fighting with gauntlets is going to be the same style as fighting with bare hands, a...

Re: Alert Call from Japan: to prevent inheriting oTorg Nippon Tech Real-Life discriminatory term controversy to TorgE

I think in this context it is more helpful than offensive to just say the "b-word": buraku or burakumin. Otherwise most of us will have no idea what the conversation is about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burakumin Not knowing anything about the matter beyond what I just read, I take Quar...

Re: Fires of Ra Discussion and Questions

I think Torg works best in a middle ground between sandbox and railroad job. As I said when we were talking about The God Box, previous Torg adventures like The Destiny Map were linear in the big picture sense but each individual scene offered some scope to approach it in different ways, and some sc...

Player: I hide in a fridge. <rolls a die> Outstanding Soak roll. I take no damage.

GM: Superb.

Re: Follower Perks

From a story & game point of view, I'd far rather that Followers are tough enough that they can be involved in their master's story without any hit being a likely death sentence. So I can feel like they're fair game if they're in the way during a fight, without feeling like I'm effectively depr...
