Gear and Money

Torg falls into the category of RPG where gear is cool and matters. This is contrasted with many rule-lite games where gear is mostly just a stylistic thing and either lacks stats, or has very simple stats such as "pistols give a +1 to damage, rifles give a +2". Torg also uses the resource...

Re: Pathfinder Spell Specifics

I would say that the spell would use clearly perceivable (usually visually) cues for identifying things. It isn't designed to determine whether a "human" is actually a magically disguised elf, or a vampire, or whatever. You couldn't use it to find the nearest werewolf, unless they were cur...

When you look at marvel, Thor isn't a God, only a super advanced alien. The Asgardians know they aren't gods... Depending on their mood, that is. Thor's starting running with the "God of Thunder" thing in some of the movies, at least. If there were a race of gods...would they think of the...

Re: Nile Empire Kickstarter stretch goal PDFs going out

"However, any test to make a physical attack suffers a -2 penalty." - who does this apply to? The hero or the attacker being talked about in the paragraph? I was interpreting it as being a penalty the hero has just for having that Perk. That would make the Perk rather weak though--you hav...

Re: Nile Empire Kickstarter stretch goal PDFs going out

I'm liking the Religions of Core Earth. It's the one I was really looking forward to. I do have a question about the statement that "Miracles were once contradictory in Core Earth..." Is that intended to mean all miracles? Because that seems to imply that the great miracle workers of the p...

Re: Do Villains test Surge?

A surge is localized to the vicinity. There is NO reason the villains wouldn't also be subject to it. There are some mistakes in the rules. There is no reason for the rules (in that one place) to state that it happens to the side whose line it's on...and then have it only ever be on the heroes' side...

Re: Aysle Preview #2 - Magic

So, finally getting around to replying to this now that we're sure what is going into the book. 1. Permanent spells, at least as far as making non-permanent spells permanent is going to be something a Gamma Perk does. 2. "Improvised Magic" is cantrips. 3. Rituals are generally just plot de...

Re: Telekinesis errata

I'm apparently missing something, because I don't appear to be understanding this at all. Where in this errata does it say that lifting is relevant to the ground? Range isn't horizontal only. Couldn't I try to yank a light fixture out of the ceiling, for instance? It seems to me like the relevant im...

Re: Aysle Preview #6 - Threats

Any chance of having good guy Dragons again? Personally I always loved how the Dragons were tied to the elemental forces. Seemed to make then distinctive from other settings Sure. Even if not officially, but there's no reason you can't stick them in your own game. We don't say that there are zero g...

Re: Aysle Preview #6 - Threats

If dragons are creatures of concentrated Darkness, does this mean there aren't really good varieties? :(
