Re: Saving the world in the age of surveillance

A little research on facial recognition software indicates that hiding the eyes tends to confuse the computer. It uses those to lock in the face. I'm thinking sunglasses or a cybernetic visor would do a good job of throwing the Church Police off the trail. Well, mirrorshades tend to be ubiquitous i...

Re: Near Now News

Here's the Storify of Day 1 so you can catch up on anything you missed: https://storify.com/USNAGames/invasion-day-1 That. Is. Fantastic! I have never been excited about Twitter before now. I'm glad I read the compiled version. If I had watched it all unfurl, I would have wasted a whole lot of time...

Re: Near Now News

Makes me almost wish I didn't view Twitter as useless. But this is definitely one of the most fun uses of that platform. Awesome.

Maybe Russia has always been Tharkold

I couldn't say that all of these videos happened in Russia as the caption suggests, but they are kind of crazy, and some of these scenes could just get crazier with Tharkold world laws in play (especially the guy cutting into the lane). https://www.facebook.com/Wititudes/videos/1601637659869452/?hc_...

Re: Free RPG day game

Free RPG Day is supposed to be pretty fun and light-hearted. I cannot speak specifically about the Torg component, but I'll speak on my experiences and assume that Torg follows the same model. The adventures I've seen tend to be pretty short that can last 2-4 hours. You can extend it with some extra...

Re: TORG Character Creator and Manager

I may not be able to do a complete, thorough testing, but I could do what I can. In addition to running a game at home, I likely will try to run some convention scenarios and could ensure the characters are relatively equal in points (and legal).

Torg demo at UnderCon (Kansas City), May 26-28

I will be running three slots of the Torg demo at UnderCon (http://www.undercongaming.com/program/). It is the gaming arm of Midwest ConQuest, which is a sci-fi media convention in Kansas City over Memorial Day weekend.

Re: Probabilities in Torg Eternity

There is, however, a very possible phenomenon where players may try to roll dice in order to improve their odds of triggering a Glory card. I've seen this plenty of times in L5R 3e. In that game, you throw a handful of d10. A 10 explodes. If you explode three times, you get a Void point back (simila...

2017: Year of Bill Slavicsek reprints

I found it interesting that there is also a Kickstarter for Alternity, which was another game that Bill Slavicsek worked on. I had enjoyed it when it came out in 1997, so this Kickstarter intrigued me. I downloaded the current beta rules from: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/206864/Alternity-Sci...

Re: Probabilities in Torg Eternity

That doesn't affect the probability of success though. But it does touch on something that annoys me about Glory cards: people could use them on some very mundane actions , and it's just not very epic and puts the GM on the spot. "Roll Find to see if you spot any sentries." "Woah, I ...
