Re: Mage Guild questions

When does learning time really matter that much? It doesn't for most people. Simple as that. I am really glad that they got rid of learning times or costs in the Basic rule book. They will sooner or later add them in back as focus rules for those that enjoy tracking that stuff but focus rules is ex...

Re: Permanent injuries

I dislike them. I agree with you here. Mostly because of the same reasons. And as others already mentioned it further feeds into a certain play style of fast recycling of characters that the XP system already encourages. One thought is just to ignore them, or make them just last until the end of th...

Re: The Compendium Kickstarter is LIVE!

But when I get everything correctly then the kickstarter already gives a card pack and one 64 page adventure on top of that. "A Death in Grangor" is a full 64 page adventure that costs 14,95 Euro in Germany and the compendium card packs should add another 9,95 Euro. The complete deluxe cha...

Re: Blinding Flash spell

I like the fluff of the academies, and why choose an academy that is known for healing and telepathy if you want to summon demons and throw fireballs? There is always the option to create a private teacher of your liking, no reason to create a grey faceless mess out of the guilds. There is no reaso...

Re: Funny thing.

That is a bloody good way to do the rules. Rules bloat and book flipping will drive me out. Thanks TDE 5 does a really thorough job here. Rules bloat was a serious problem in the previous edition. In this edition they took extra care to clearly label anything that is optional. You still can have a ...

Re: Blinding Flash spell

Snipped a good overview of a Focus I rule Just because it should mentioned: All that Bosper wrote here is something called a Focus I rule. That means it is totally optional. You only use them when you group decides that they want to use them. By default Guild Mages in TDE 5 have no restrictions on ...

Re: Living Land Preview #6 - Perks

Agreed, though the beta clearance requirement seems to frustrate someone trying to game the system by grabbing it early and boosting, say, a 12 to a 13 for a handful of XP. My guess is that new perks for beta clearance characters will be a bit pricey since they will probably have a handful already ...

Re: Living Land Preview #6 - Perks

Cool beans. Does Savage Strength allow you to exceed racial limits? No. It also seems to be a increase and not a bonus. That means it is just a perk that messes around with the normal way of increasing attributes with XP and its usefulness as perk is dependant on what point you take the perk during...

Re: Scholar Profession, Lack Thereof (and Presented)

Well without the special abilities for noncombat in the compendium a scholar is any character with higher skillpoints in lore. I personally would prefer to build that freely, though. Well yes. Personally I like to make characters with high combat and high lore skills. The dumb fighter stereotype th...
