Re: Designer Diary: The Nile Empire Part 2

I think the Scholar skill seems perfectly appropriate. It's not like they're actually scientifically researching the question - they're meditating over a magic hip bone. If you have five adds in Science but scoff at those silly liberal arts, this might not be the method for you. So for me, anybody ...

Re: Designer Diary: The Nile Empire Part 2

What overlap between science (hard sciences) and scholar (liberal arts) is there? I expect there are a number of fields that overlap fairly significantly, but since the description says to make a ‘Scholar test’ I assumed characters would be limited to using the Scholar skill specifically. However, ...

Re: Designer Diary: The Nile Empire Part 2

Lucy’s Hipbone (shouldn’t “Hipbone” be two words?) has a couple of vagueries. First: what constitutes “a group of scholars?” As Scholar can be used untrained, Is a scholar just someone who wants answers to the questions – I.E. anyone – or do they have to have adds in the Scholar skill? And if so, do...

A couple of definition questions

I have a couple of what are probably simple questions to which I'm pretty certain I know the answers, but my players like official rulings and I was unable to find one with the search function - not without pulling out my trowel and brush, and I'm not quite up to that today. First: There are a fair ...

Re: Quick equipment question

I don't really care that much about these weapons matching real-world numbers. Not seeking realism necessarily, just consistency. With three entries in a row each alleging different stats, currently debating which to use. The SMG vs Assault Rifle comparison makes sense, so in the absence of official...

Quick equipment question

A search turned up nothing, so figured I'd just post it meself. The Thav-9 SMG is listed in the Gear chart on p. 155 as having a damage of 13 and Short Burst. Then the description on p. 157 indicates it has Long Burst, and the Thrall stats on page 273 list it with damage 14 and short burst. My guess...

Re: The weight of a dinosaur bone

I know, right? He just totally took it and sprinted. Far cooler than the five-word-ish answer I had expected.

The weight of a dinosaur bone

So, in my game, Atama is currently playing a Living Land savage (i.e. a caveman) who is using a bone club. And I start wondering to myself, just how big would such a club be? And how heavy is it if it's as big as, say, a katana? A no-dachi? If it's monstrously heavy, would it have to be uncinematica...
