Re: Some creative help with a tricky character concept

My impulse would be to run with the 'famous' aspect. Make him a well-known figure, especially among the elite. Made his name finding interesting things in odd places, right? Many of those things would be cultural treasures, good for inspiring faith and even loyalty. As a philanthropic gesture, he gi...

Re: Perks, Powers, and Savage Worlds

Given the potency of spells, psionics, and miracles, I'm not a fan of giving out more of them, either as a GM or player. It's too easy a slide towards power creep, and the non-caster gets the short end of the stick... unless you start giving away gear and cyberwear at a similar increased rate. Peopl...

Re: Aysle and the Ecology of Dragons

Yep. It's magic. All the way down, to coin a phrase. I'll worry about the ecology of feeding dragons after I worry about the physics of flying dragons, which is after I worry about the biochemistry of dragon breath that can kill people and melt metal. Nothing about dragons operates by natural science.

Re: Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China

Jack Burton's archetype is...the Follower Perk for Wang Chi. This. My alternative hypothesis is that Jack is the player who is just visiting some friends who have a long-running campaign and decides to just sit in for a session and hang out for the lulz. Doesn't know or care about the lore, makes d...

Re: Corruption Perks

I had two reasons I left the corruption check out of this perk. The first is that I saw this as a Perk that the player has to take, the others are options. A player could decide to simply not use them at all. This one they have to roll at full moon, no choice. The second is that the player is alrea...

Re: UN HQ Relocation?

Interesting idea, but if you think about how the social axiom works, lower axioms needs direct rule and a person to organise clans, states etc. Higher axioms on the other hand become much more about individuals becoming self organised for the benefit of the whole (the whole being the world in this ...

Re: UN HQ Relocation?

My guess would be that the UN still exists, but for practical purposes little more than a nostalgic dream. The bureaucracy from NY would be hard to move in any reasonable time, and many of the staff there (that didn't transform) would more likely than not be recalled to their various home countries....

Re: Aysle Preview #6 - Threats

If Great Dragons really are "Concentrated Darkness", I would say that if you actually convert one to Light, they would fade away. Probably with beautiful hazy rainbow effects or something. Vampires should never, ever have sparkled, in any iteration, in any universe. Neither should dragons.

Re: How do people handle new, more specialized Perks coming out?

My home group is firmly in the 'play the character you want to play' camp. In more than one campaign, we've had someone discover that their concept just isn't working out - often because it's a new ruleset for us. If it can be done within story and/or rules parameters, so much the better (one player...
