Vulnerable - end of next action or turn?

I feel like I'm making a lot of these rules questions threads lately, and I feel bad about it. On page 115, the first column states, "Vulnerable: Actions taken directly against a foe are made at +2 until the end of his next action ..." On the second column it states, "Vulnerable and S...

Re: Adjusted DN vs Difficulty Modifiers

Ok, thanks. Here's my takeaway. DN represents the natural difficulty of the task without any external factors, while the modifiers just represent external, changing factors. DN can differ mechanically from modifiers, as there are rules that allow players to alter modifiers, but not DNs. For example,...

Adjusted DN vs Difficulty Modifiers

What's the low-down on the difference, mechanically between the two? When do I, as the GM, choose one over the other? Believe it or not, I've had the hardest time wrapping my head around this. For instance, if a player wants to do something that I judge to be 'hard', when would I give them a DN 10 w...

Re: Maps and blips? How useful?

After some research, I'm thinking about using Microsoft Whiteboard. The thing is that I do use the other computer during games, so I wouldn't just want to take over the entire screen. It looks like Whiteboard would let me simply share a single window between the two, minimizing it when I'm not using...

Re: Maps and blips? How useful?

That's not a bad idea. I also use the TV, but normally prepare the maps in advance and just store them there as images (the TV is set up as a monitor on a separate PC.) But my laptop, which I use for GMing, does have a touchscreen and a pen that makes drawing easy. I'd just need to figure out how to...

Re: Maps and blips? How useful?

Oh, the system is close enough to Savage Worlds that it wouldn't be hard to adapt that miniature system at all, and I have probably 2,000+ miniatures. The thing is, I'm not asking so much whether it can support them, but whether they're necessary. I honestly want a break from elaborate set-ups for a...

Maps and blips? How useful?

I'm getting ready for my first session of TE. Long time GM, but I have yet to play or run this system. I'm gathering the tools, learning the rules, preparing the accessories, and so forth. Now I'm trying to figure out how useful character/enemy tokens (er, blips) would be. It's quite an investment, ...

Re: Tips for Day One?

Thank you all for the input. I will think about all of it and integrate it into my notes. I will check back for new ideas (and my use the thread for a question or two.)

Tips for Day One?

I'm getting ready to kick off Day One in a couple of weeks, my first time running Torg: Eternity, and my first time running any Torg since 1990-something (although I've run plenty of other systems in the years since.) I'm prepping up Day One, which I'm thinking I'll run in order. Does anyone have an...

Active defense rule clarification, please

In the core book (page 119), it says, quoting: "Note that if Defend is an Approved Action, it's successful only if the target is attacked and missed." In Day One (page 16), it says, quoting: "If Defend is also an Approved Action the character draws a card the first time he's missed, o...
