I mean we have Hellfire and we have Lightning. Both are ranged attacks that are evocative of one of the major cosm faiths. Attributes need to be fairly diversified unless you've got something clever. But Skills are easy enough to specialize heavily. 4 @ +3; 4 @ +1 would likely cover all your starting character needs and be close to mechanically optimal. Ultimately a +1 in a skill doesn't make much mechanical difference...

Problem with something like Hold Person is that when you think about it, it's a pretty major effect, especially on a main character...which often you've got on the badguy side. That is, it's often one "boss" and some minions. So you have to watch out you don't accidentally make an 'I win'...
