Re: Differentiating wizards of different realities

Scry was just an example drawn out of the hat without much thinking about it. It was meant to describe my intentions better, not as a case-study. So, please, don't disseminate it too closely.Of course I can see the merit of restrictions and bonuses to schools of SFX. Shadowrun did this pretty good w...

Re: Skills cost

Attributes need to be fairly diversified unless you've got something clever. But Skills are easy enough to specialize heavily. 4 @ +3; 4 @ +1 would likely cover all your starting character needs and be close to mechanically optimal. Ultimately a +1 in a skill doesn't make much mechanical difference...

Re: Campaign Timing

I could bring it up to the players, but I don't know how well it would go over. As mostly-a-player myself, I would love to play Torg that way. It's hard to pick just one thing to want to play in pretty much any game, and Torg takes that problem and cranks it up to 11. I have a hard time imagining s...

Re: Resetting vs. refreshing Possibilities at the start of an act.

It might be the multi-actioning interaction attacks and actual attacks for cards fairly regularly, spending possibilities to succeed if we won't, which burns us through the deck pretty good, leading us to more cards we can use in place of personal possibilities, or cards that give us more. And as I...

Re: When do World Laws apply

...and now I come to think of it, why is peanut butter a contradiction in the Living Land? What advanced technological requirement is needed to make it? Isn't it just mushed up peanuts and oil? :D and creepy coincidence, the Skippy web site has the tag line - Explore the Possibilities! The main con...

Re: Substituting for the Nile Empire

I like Mobius...as a villain, but I think you are on the right track here. The Nile needs more than one true villain (and Wu Han). Cobra/Hydra is all about substitutes for main villains, if one is defeated the next steps in and he or she is totally different and maybe even deadlier. It should not be...

Re: Preview #16 - A Closer Look at Perks (Part 2)

Problem with something like Hold Person is that when you think about it, it's a pretty major effect, especially on a main character...which often you've got on the badguy side. That is, it's often one "boss" and some minions. So you have to watch out you don't accidentally make an 'I win'...

Re: Preview #9 - The Drama, Destiny, and Cosm Decks

And I think playtesting would support the conclusions drawn here. Just as I feel like even telling players that there is a reset at the end of an act won't change how they feel about things they earned at the end of the act being immediately lost. There's only so many you can spend, after all. FYI ...

Re: Core Rules Second Printing!

Really disappointing when you own a hard copy. You want to support a new game and by the rules, but then end up with the error ridden book. Kicking myself for not putting off my purchase until all the major errors are fixed. Well errata basically never ends. Paizo for example is still finding stuff...
