Re: Equipment and power-balance

From my experience, players really really don’t like having to give up their loot. I’d sooner be sparing giving out Eternity Shards than have them come and leave quickly, easy-come, easy go. I always felt it was like giving out artefacts and relics in D&D – you did so sparingly as they would hav...

Re: getting rid of the silly aspects of Torg

As for Darkness Device names...don't call them anything. Players aren't going to run across them anyway or hear about them most of the time; as they get closer to the Highlords, they might hear about "Heketon" or "Rec Pakken" but I actually can't think of a scenario where the wo...

Re: getting rid of the silly aspects of Torg

And oh, one more question - does anyone have a better name for a 'Darkness Device'? Dear lord, does that sound goofy and camp, like something from Masters of the Universe. You may as well just call it a 'Maguffin of Evil'. I want them to be something dreaded, like the 'One Ring' of Torg, something s...

Re: Preview #8 - Pan-Pacifica and Orrorsh

The Law of Profit was uncomfortably realistic, too. For Tenacity, though, just think about any movie where the hero has to be beaten up a lot before they get that, "No, I've gotta do this" look, stand up, and suddenly just win. Comics do this all the time, so the comics-based movies have a...

Re: Novels

The fifth horseman is one of the best Bloodshadows novels and the main story of Mysterious Kairo (Knowing the rules part I-III is from him). He knows his craft. All the other things I know of him are only RPG sourcebooks and rulebooks, but this shows he is not a novelist writing for a RPG franchise...

Re: Torg as a Meta-Setting for other RPGs

I can see the logic of a lot of these ideas. Perhaps coincidentally, I love the settings of Deadlands (never played it but looks damn cool) and Earthdawn (bought a lot of it, never had a chance to run it), and I was an avid reader of Strikeforce Morituri when it first came out. Certainly nothing wro...

Re: Preview #9 - The Drama, Destiny, and Cosm Decks

I'm grateful for that. In one of the demos I ran, the players went hog-wild with the cosm cards (because who wouldn't?). When the dust settled, we were no farther along on the plot, 2 hours had passed, and everyone had an average of 6 Possibilities. Of course, that was a demo, so people played card...

Re: No online play??

Just saw the comments from the devs on the Q&A, and I have to say I'm VERY disappointed. Dean made it pretty clear there were plans for virtual tabletop support, yet this didn't seem to pan out in the eyes of Darrell. When asked about apps such as a Drama Deck simulator: "<+TorgDarrell> We...
