Cost of materials for weapons and armor

Postby thelordoftherats » Mon Jan 22, 2018 8:53 am

The Aventuria Compendium lists new materials for weapons and armor on pages 98 and 99. What are the availability and costs for buying items made of these materials? Is there a cost multiplier applied or a fixed cost? I have already had inquiries from my group about how much it would cost to get weapons and armor made of Toshkril for example.

Toshkril usually isnt sold. its awarded to accomplished dwarven fighters or rarely to friends of the people. You still may find raw toshkril somehow in lost cities or deep mountain caves. Then you only need to find a dwarven smith who knows the secret of working it and that can be talked into doing it for outsiders.

For all the other materials and techniques you can guesstimate material cost + time (a mastersmith will take at least 5-9silver per day) x rarity of the technique (the AP cost could be used here or the penalty on the smiths check) (x2 for dwarf working for humans (usual rate mentioned in armory 2))

there is no fixed price for uniqe works and there are many factors that play into it. Do they want it fast? Do other customers have to wait ? Does the smith like the hero or his kind? Does he like to work on this kind of weapon or armor? etc etc

Costs for materials arent given yet, with the exception of a few magical metals. Comparing the prices to the last editon i can assume a multiplier of 1.25 for prices comming to following result:

Price per Bar (1kg)
(lower (aka standard) quality 90%, reused 80%)
Copper 37,5 s
Bronze 50s
Brass 50s
Zink 62,5 s
Antimony 87,5 s
Lead 12,5 s
Tin 37,5s
Silver 37,5 s
Iron 18h 5c
Bloodstone 10s
Cast Iron 10s 6h
Good Steel (maraskan steel for example) 30 s
Gold 750s
Orichalcum 375s / pearl sized nugget
Moonsilver/Platinum 937s 5h
Dwarven Steel 475s
Dwarven Silver 625s
Dwarven Gold 1000s
Quicksilver 937s 5h
Meteoric Iron 75s
Arkanium 20.000s
Endurium 120.000s
Eternium ?????? minimum 20.000.000 Silverthaler per Kg
Mindorium 2.000 s
Titanium 2.000.000 s
Ivory / Mammoth Ivory 200s - 800 s /kg

This it of course just a guess i made comparing the prices of magic metals between editions. But it seems to make sense with the prices of a finished sword for example.

At least its something we can work with until the rules catch up.
