Large Object Contradictions

Postby bchoinski » Wed Aug 23, 2017 7:03 pm

We all can handle a Storm Knight taking a Laser out of the CyberPapacy back to Core Earth. Sure, for a Ce person it becomes a 4-case, and only a 1-case for a CP Storm Knight.

What if someone takes a high-tech Helicopter out of Pan Pacifica? Does that fall under same rules as any other object (passive, wait for surges, or on a 1 when using its active powers)? Or do large things like this which are not carried by the PC, but instead carry him disconnect differently?

while it is being piloted, yes.
As soon as the pilot leaves, it will start the transformation process.

The Day 1 LL adventure shows this.

A gun you can carry around with you preventing it, a car, plane, etc. you're going to have to leave and then its the Gm who decides how long it lasts, etc. But if you disconnect while flying... your basically in a big rock dropping from the sky.

What if more than one Storm Knight is using an aircraft that is causing a contradiction, and the pilot disconnects. Could the co-pilot take over the controls of the aircraft and keep the plane functioning? Could a Storm Knight that is a passenger keep the plane functioning?

I'd make it so that the plane starts to disappear but it takes a few rounds, enough time for people to grab parachutes or whatever.

I wouldn't let a second person "cancel" the disconnect. I don't think that's a thing that happens.

I actually had this exact situation in mind when discussing it with Darrell. This is why we specify in the rules that it's objects in a person's possession that start to phase in and out.

Otherwise you just go back to the 'it doesn't work for you' aspect of a contradiction involving a disconnected individual. However, the key is that it's the person who's disconnected, not the thing. So in this case, a co-pilot could take control of the plane to keep it working.

Presumably though the engine has stopped and needs to be restarted all while plummeting to the ground. Fun times!

It's a great start to a DSR!
