Nice! Feels very Matrix.

Very cool.

Are there cars, like in the Matrix?

No, sectors are small enough that people walk.

Living in one of the largest French-speaking cities in the world, which happens to be dominated by a big mountain with a cross on it, I am … intrigued by the idea of the GodNet Mountain. In fact, I only now realised that I had a muted reaction to the image because it looked enough like a jazzed-up image of Montreal that it didn't fully register to my subconscious as strange (if that makes sense). Compare:

(The vertical shafts of light are unusual; the picture's showing an annual memorial of the victims of the Polytechique shooting, but I can't find a better image of Mount Royal for the context.)

On another note: was the GodNet Mountain by any chance inspired by the faction in the French Revolution?

No, the Mountain is based on Mount Purgatory in Dante’s Divine Comedy. You’ll get more of that in some of the details later in the book.

As for your impression...I did live in Montreal for 18 months when I was in grad school. The similarities are not coincidental. 8-)

Place Ville Marie FTW.

But . . . lightcycle chase scene through crowded Godnet street!

Or would that be something I could arrange for transit between sectors?

Hardlight projections work outside the Godnet. So you could have lightcycle chases in Paris if you wanted.

This all implies that Cyberpapacy is high end Tech 26 going on 27 if they have force fields with such precision.

That could be interesting if the Tech axiom increased in game. Tech 26 allows artificial being that a obviously artificial, Tech 27 allows artificial beings that are indistinguishable from people AND reality rated.

This also means there are Ord artificial beings at the moment. Does the Cyberpapacy tolerate artificial beings or are they an affront to God as he can only create life etc.etc.etc..
Question everything.
