Forums are Sunsetting, Discord is rising

Hey folks,

I'm Robert, the new Ulisses International social media and community manager. I hate to say hello and be the bearer of bad news, but due to a number of issues out of our control primarily having to do with backend site management resources and how much time we spend moderating spam these discussion forums are going to be phased out relatively soon.

We know there are many great threads here and we don't plan on deleting the forums. You'll still be able to check your old threads you just won't be able to post. However, I can't say for certain that will always be the thought, so if you really want some content I would make sure to save it.

To take up the slack of community interaction we'd like to invite you all to our Discord. The Ulisses Discord has both english and german channels for all of our games as well as voice channels.

Please join it here:

If Discord isn't your thing we have Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages as well as a few fan-run groups on Facebook and Reddit. If there are other places you're talking about our games please let us know we'd love to join the conversation there.

Maybe there could also be the possibility for at least TDE fans to move to the German Orkenspalter forums.

I just asked Thomas, if he would like to add an English Subforum.

Thanks GTStar for the advice. I have designed the Orkenspalter to be multilingual, so it is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch and Italian. There are individual entry pages for the different language versions. I hope for a productive exchange from multilingualism.

The following link is relevant for an English language introduction: (English entry page)

The advice in the forum is located here:

Hi Robert! I'm happy to see you here.

I'm not really fond of Discord, but I'm willing to try (To me discord looks like Facebook, it's a mess when trying to follow a subject and to post long information or creation).

What's bugging me though is that forums like these are easier to search and follow a particular subject.

Welcome Robert, Harbinger of Doom!

It might be worth the forum moderators mentioning this in the individual forums... I never come out much past Torg Rules specifically, but at least sometimes think to look at the Torg Forums in general. I never look in here -- I came searching for this because a friend mentioned an announcement that the forums are going away, and it was like, "What? Where!?"

Super disappointed. Discord is lovely for quick answers to simple questions, but lousy for in-depth discussion and worthless for long term record. I don't think any of the others are any better for that. But I'm sure you guys know all this already and you said it's out of your control, so... I'm just sorry to hear this. I'll miss this place.

Yeah, I will miss it here very, very much, as well.

If anyone has any ideas about where to go as an alternative, especially one that would better preserve the unique advantages that a forum has over the already suggested formats would, please feel free to share them with us! Maybe we can unofficially coordinate with each other a little bit about what to do, as the end draws nigh. There sure are a lot of great posters here, and I'd hate to lose touch with many of them.

If there isn't anything quite suitable (and Orkenspaltter is an option, though it is more focused on the main German company) we could always found a new forum.

There are enough super fans here to provide the nucleus of an administrator/moderator team after all.

Are you kidding?

No official forum ?

Discord, Instagram and all serve different purposes.

This is so backwards that I am at a complete loss of words.
