Re: When do you allow subplots to be played in combat?

Oops, I forgot about the special case of Alertness. Shows you how often I'm on that side of the table. The discarding out of hand makes perfect sense, and I'm glad that's how I've been running it. I get wrapped up in the rule of cool, so I figured an academic look at subplots would be productive. It...

When do you allow subplots to be played in combat?

As the title says, how are you using subplot cards (Nemesis, Martyr, et al) in your combats? They are cards like any other, so should they be cycled through into the pool before they can be used? By the strictest of rules, it would seem that they should be played into the pool, but I doubt anyone wo...

Re: House rule so PCs can own personal vehicles -- thoughts?

Let me upgrade that to "will be", since I am the one who will be heading up the Pan-Pacifica book. :-) Ooh, you should have the new Perk involve getting a special cycle that interfaces with the Ion Gusoku and is called the Utsukushi 5000. So a bike that can turn into power armour? Nice! Y...

Re: Aysle Preview #3 - Perks

Blood Magic looks very flavorful and useful. Although I suppose you're trading -2 to cast other spells from Concentration for a -1 to everything from Wound penalties. Though Concentration can be disrupted. I suppose one could also pre-cast buffs with this! :D Yeah, the lack of disruption makes this...

Re: A few questions from a new guy

Here's a picture I shot earlier of my chips and the laminated archetypes. I've been using these chips for demos over the past 2 years, except for when I replaced the white chips with Possibility chips.

Re: A few questions from a new guy

When I run demos, I usually pass out 1d20 and 2d6. I consider those the bare minimum. Some people feel better having extras. For example, rolling another d20 next to the original when spending a Possibility or rolling an Up. I did have to get after my player for rolling both simultaneously since it ...

Re: House rule so PCs can own personal vehicles -- thoughts?

That's true. I do try to make things work for my players, even though I had just recently talked with one of my players how part of their perk (the Ward Enemy and Banish miracles) won't always apply. If I think of vehicles the same way, then it fits. I wouldn't codify it, but I'd allow it in a narra...

Re: House rule so PCs can have vehicles -- thoughts?

I would not want to tie a perk to vehicles because when the vehicle inevitably gets lost or destroyed, then that is part of a perk being lost. I don't think that would be an issue here. In this case, it's "perk protected", similar to a trademarked weapon or a set of electric samurai armor...

I would not want to tie a perk to vehicles because when the vehicle inevitably gets lost or destroyed, then that is part of a perk being lost. Granted, the same thing can happen if you buy a Godlight, and it transforms into a flintlock pistol, so it's not unprecedented. But I prefer to have my vehic...
