Re: Things you'd like to know about Tharkold

My view (unofficial) is the Law of Domination really messes with the social 25 expanding beyond psionics. I'm down with "The World Laws inform the Social Axiom significantly, which means Social 25 looks different than what you'd see if Core Earth had that axiom." But I'd be incredibly dis...

Re: Kaiju and Mecha in Pan-Pacifica

I would like to know a little of the conquest of Kadandra (I should have put this into the what you want to know about PP thread, but put me down as one of those who doesn't want the Bladerunner / Hard Rain / Resident Evil vibe of PP to be overwhelmed by mechs).

Re: Does anyone have any plans for Babylon in the Nile Empire?

I agree completely :D The effervescence of ideas in the books pointing to the future, as much as the streamlined rules, are what have convinced me we are on good hands. It was the sheer creativity of OTorg in systems and setting that blew my gaming group away in the 90s, and I am so glad we have the...

Re: Things you'd like to know about Tharkold

Can Tharkoldu use psionics? I haven't seen any statted with psionic skills. If not, I can see a good argument that the social axiom is based around the social cohesion of the Race, and they developed a high social axiom to survive culminating in psionics as their weapon against the demons. This seem...

Re: Does anyone have any plans for Babylon in the Nile Empire?

Glad I searched the forum for "Osiris" as I was framing an adventure that I now fear would have been in contradiction. Obviously no specifics can be forthcoming, but I am guessing I should stay away from writing a plot that "resurrects" Osiris if I want be certain to be consiste...

Re: Things you'd like to know about Tharkold

Definitely Russia/Eastern Europe as Istrian lays out. Was Kranod intending to extend into Aysle cosm to raise the magic axiom as page 250 of the core rules hints at, and is Thratchen pursuing this aim himself? Is Volkov's drive into Eastern Europe setting up a Twilight 2000 Also definitely psionics ...

Re: Breaking free of Mind Control (pulp vs psi)

I wouldn't compare magically Charming someone to full-on mind control in the first place. Off hand, with the skill-and-axiom parameters you're looking for, I'd suggest a Charm spell that makes Persuasion rolls against the target Favored - either with a duration of Concentration, or for a Scene so l...

Re: Breaking free of Mind Control (pulp vs psi)

Thanks Deanna et al, both for the answer and for ideas on other differences between the two. Since the thread topic got stretched a bit, I'll just go ahead and share my summary. If anyone thinks it's off, let me know. Pulp Power Psionic Power Think "supernaturally persuasive" Think "...

I couldn't agree more. Moderating these boards, answering questions, writing, writing, writing, watching the skies - it makes one tired just reading about it! Have a great holiday :D
