Re: Currency Question

the "original" penny was a silver coin in medieval britain, that was made after the example of the karolingian denar , so it makes sense to take this as a currency in the translation, i would have prefered to not translate it at all though. That is true for a lot of cases and names in TDE...

Re: What should organized play look like in English?

Great Topic - In PA we have a local con that meets 2x per year. (MEPACON, April, November). We have a steady group of gamers (around 300) who attend and I'd love to start an organized TDE Living Campaign...

Greetings from Pennsylvania

Hi all - New to the world of Aventuria and trying to establish a steady group. I love the world setting and the quality of the materials I am seeing for the new edition in America. I think we are slowly coming to understand the basic rules and I'm looking forward to the time when we start to underst...

Re: Currency Question

The almanac lists lump (ducat), penny (silverthaler), and slightling (haler). Same value as middenrealmian currency. Yes - And I wasn't making the connection between Batz and Lump. The mod also mentioned Farthing as well. I took that to be roughly equivalent to Slightling - although Penny in americ...

Re: Currency Question

The shortlived TDE4 translation put it like this for the Bornland: "In Fountland one pays with the lump (1 ducat), the penny (1 thaler) and the slighting (1 farthing)." and for the middenrealm "One ducat is 10 silver thalers (of 5 scruples of silver), which corresponds to 10 bronze f...

Re: Currency Question

I will need to go back to the Almanac and look. I don't have it with me at the moment. I agree, it probably is a translation issue, but I can't tell if it is the module (probably) or the almanac that is in error. Batzen are definitely NOT a bornland currency in my almanac.

Currency Question

In the White Lake, (and the Thorwal Drum), I have seen reference to being paid in Batz, and another reference to something costing a farthing, but I can't find these denominations in the rulebook or almanac. (The almanac references 3 Bornland currencies (including Penny) but not the ones I mention. ...
