I think vehicle speeds also fall under the same reasoning that ranges do - in order to make tabletop play more dramatic and easier on those using minis.

I cannot seem to find the Power field trait in either the pdf or the errata. Because it isnt a trait, it's a keyword, I made the same mistake and it had me hung up as well. Right now the effects of the power field are built into the stat block, any effects beyond that are up to the GM to adjudicate...

This occurred to me, as well. The first time my friend and I made characters and chucked dice, I thought, "This would be perfect for Shadowrun!" The three things I think you would need to add are magic and matrix stuff, and some stats for gear.
