Re: Movie/TV/book references for the realms/cosms

I'd argue that while the word Victorian is used in reference to Orrorsh, the social attitudes and axiom of the realm are more along the lines of the colonial era. So while the tech level is late 1800s, society is more like the 1700s. I don't disagree. I feel strongly that Orrorsh was meant to be pl...

Re: Preview #15 - A Closer Look At Perks

While I sort of understand the reasoning behind designating certain perks as reality natives only, I don't like it much. One of the cooler bits about Old Torg was the way characters from different cosms could "mix-and-match" abilities in weird, fun ways. The Core Earth reporter girl who go...

Re: Preview #13 - Fighting the High Lords

But a stelae, by its very function is at the junction of two zones or more. If the glory card is played at a three way junction, do all three zones get refreshed? Also removing a more central junction might cause as many as six zones to collapse; or would it? Picture a hexagon of zones around and p...

Re: Preview #7 - The Nile Empire and Tharkold

For my part, I'd be okay with a "monster toolkit" and a couple of examples so I can just make my own Walking Gods (or running gods or flying gods). Egypt had a buttload of different deities (look at Stargate SG-1), so I don't want book space taken up by Walking Gods for every last one of t...

Re: Preview #4 - Core Earth and the Living Land

One of the cooler aspects of Old Torg was that you could have a battle with a party fighting a tough enemy and the fight ends when one PC kills that enemy with one stupendous huge roll. However, it was a fight involving a huge amount of teamwork with everyone using approved action and card-trading,...

Re: Preview #4 - Core Earth and the Living Land

I may preview this at some point so I don't want to go into details, but the rules for reality storms are not the same as previously. Also, the Storm Caller Perk has prerequisites that prevent it from being selected by a starting character. Well that makes my decision easy. At least until I see the...

Re: Size of the Cyberpapacy?

The Cyberpope still is more conservative than the others, and has more backup stelae in place. ...means he is still completely paranoid and over the edge of madness ? Not necessarily. It could mean that an "Operation Central Fire" won't be as effective because there will be multiple backu...

Re: Movie/TV/book references for the realms/cosms

Gravity Falls was a show on Disney XD that ran for two seasons from 2012-2016. Any episode of GF was chock full of horror and mystery only somewhat "kidified." Also, Bill Cypher was basically Yog-sothoth with the personality of the Joker.

Re: Preview #10 - Combat Basics

If we're talking about Old TORG your best bet to actually kill a Darkness Device would be to attack it mentally or spiritually. Get a bunch of Tharkoldu with high damage Pain weapons to attack one in concert. Since Toughness covers all types of damage now that won't work anymore.

Re: I Remember

Incidentally, transformed humans in the Living Land won't be Neanderthals or dumb. :-) There's an excellent Warren Ellis graphic novel called Crécy which recounted the Battle of Crécy from the viewpoint of a foul-mouthed English archer. He narrates the battle directly to the reader though he occasi...
