Languages are a huge design problem for any game that includes significant amounts of geography. Either there are so many that communication becomes impossible, or you have to ignore it completely. I am a great believer in playing it open as TorgE says, because (among other things) my players retain DNs and come to tactical conclusions at varying rates and I see no need to penalize those who are slower. There are rewards for system mastery -- basic effectiveness shouldn't be one of them IMO. ...
