Re: Deliberate Mishaps?

I would assume that Race spell casters are rare in Tharkold. Imagine the number of mishaps you get whilst learning a spell before you get it right. It's probably why Psionics envolved by natural selection.

Re: Changes to Core Earth's Axioms

I suppose at axiom 9, organised traditions doesn't mean wide spread. Plus we don't know how long it has been at this level.

Re: Changes to Core Earth's Axioms

Ok, a bit of reprogramming in my head then. With CE like The Craft etc. Then there probably is a Top Secert Department of Magical Affairs (a. la. X-Files) in most countries. Also most organised religious organisations probably have something similar. "Everone remembers The Vietnam War and the s...

Re: Changes to Core Earth's Axioms

I honestly think CE magic axiom is too high. I think it should be closer to 5 than 9. At axiom 6 you can cast spells in 10 seconds (a round). At axiom 7 they can cast divination that can target individuals. Can you imagine a world where the cold war had MKUltra using drugs to enhance the Governments...

Re: Deliberate Mishaps?

I assume learning spells that require precise hand and finger movement takes time to learn/unlearn. I would say it should be automatic... but if failing becomes a habit, maybe you should increase their mishap range by 1 when they aren't trying to fail (because it's now a habit). Not for long mind yo...

Re: Deliberate Mishaps?

... agreed. Using magic in Tharkold is like sending a ping out to all technodemons near by but I'm sure the Darkness Device would know about it and catch on very quickly once magic mishaps are being used a lot in an area. Also, just because the Pc's thought of it, doesn't mean someelse hasn't at ano...

Re: Swimming Cyborgs

If the society is technologically advanced enough to create cyberware with the nanotech to splice nerve endings then the exotic materials they use will probably be engineered to be equivalent in weight to muscle and bone or lighter!

Re: Nile Empire Preview #2 - Pulp Powers

Just don't bring back Martians! I only tried once and got vocal negative feedback from my players that I never did it again. Even with the HG Wells radio broadcast in 1938, Martians just don't feel right. Having Weird Science Tripods created by Mobious as a secret weapon for a stalled invasion is a ...
