Any further stretch goals? The crowdfunding is a few hundred dollars from reaching the current max.

If you check back on the project page they have SGs up through 140k or so.

Boy, do I want to talk about The Number now.

Because this would be a great place to talk about The Number.

One of the things that has struck me about the figures on the CP funding is that the amount pledged has held up ($135k current to $170k total for Asyle, I know postage could have an impact) but the number of backers is way down. (707 to 1156 Asyle total)

That suggests that the bigger backers going for the boxes have transferred over, but that the small pledges haven't.
Would be interesting to know how this affects the profitability. The cost of an extra copy of a digital rulebook is negligible to US, but the boxes have substantial additional costs per unit

EEEEE!!!!

Ahem.

Keeping in mind that editorial passes might have altered things a bit, and that this is just a teaser, with the full details to follow in the proper book location... here's the fun.

In the Book of Neo-Revelations, where Pope Jean Malreaux the First (Hallowed be his name, may his holy reign continue) talks of several visions he beheld. One bit of wisdom is that what separates man from beast is to count. Thus to have a Number is to be a man.

Upon their baptism, everyone in the Cyberpapcy is assigned a Number. A chip-ID is implanted into their right hand that identifies them and allows them to make purchases as The Number ties them into the great bureaucracy. This allows daily life to be a breeze … simply walk to any door, it reads your Number and swooshes open, allowing you to not even break stride. When shopping, simply toss whatever you want into your cart and roll out the door … the store knows your Number, so charges your account for whatever you leave with. Getting onto a train? Just walk up, your Number is read, a ticket issued digitally, a fee taken from your account, and on you go. It's efficient, easy, and the absolute mark of a person in good standing with the Church.

Of course, there are also the Numberless, those who have never undergone a baptism. These poor wretches, who will one day be granted salvation, have no such ease in life. Moved to ghettos of squalor, they're force to buy things with, ugh, *currency*, or barter for what they want, and while those blessed with a Number can simply travel as they wish, always under the wise and beneficient gaze of the Church, knowing that they are like sheep beneath the gaze of a shepherd, they have no fear, the Numberless have no such protection. Terrible things can befall them, from witches to demons to the most loathsome of sinners, and they are forced to wait in line, slowly go through checkpoints, and be shunned as the dirty and destitute that they are. It's so sad that salvation is always within reach … all they have to do is accept the Word of the Cyberpope, be anointed, and they will be cleansed, ready to have a Number granted and happily join society as so very many before them have. All they have to do is put aside pride and humble themselves before the altar and all their troubles will be taken away!

Is that so much to ask?

(It is said that the Numberless are legion, as each Great Crusade gathers wayward sheep up, and some take longer to acclimate than others. There are also rumors, bordering on the blasphemous of course, that a Number is generated for *everyone*, Baptised or no, as a way to track people within the Cyberpapacy, but surely the Godnet would have no use for such a thing... only those who accept salvation are marked, right? It's what separates the glorious flock from the wretched rabble!)

The Number is your key to Heaven. Allow the Church to take your hand and you will finally know your place.

Love it! In our game, I've laid the groundwork for a Godnet 2.0 since previous visits to the Cyberpapacy haven't included things like this and it seems that an upgrade is perfectly in keeping with the theology. I can't wait to have them experience this sort of detail :)

As Wakshani said, there may have been some editorial changes and the Numberless is one of the things that were eliminated. Partly for setting reasons, but also for space reasons. Even though the Number is now detailed in the Secrets of the Cyberchurch PDF, the Numberless would need to be mentioned in the sourcebook itself, and we just didn't have room to go into how these people would be handled.
