Bless & Defenses

Postby mrroderick » Sat Oct 12, 2019 4:38 pm

The text of Bless says "If successful, every ally in range adds +1 to that attribute. Increasing Strength or Spirit does not increase the derived statistics of Toughness and Shock, however."

While TOU and Shock don't go up, if someone bumps their DEX by +1, do the defenses also go up since those are based on skills?

They should go up as they are not derived stats in the same way as Toughness and Shock are.

They are skill totals which are effectively the DN for the enemy.

This is my understanding....

Therefore, if Dodge, Melee Weapons, Unarmed Combat, or other defensive skills were supposed to be unaffected, the miracle would have said something about skills, or at least NOT have specifically called out these two stats. There's not even a "like" in the sentence.

They are literally the exceptions that prove the rule.
