New Cyberware Ideas

CyberHam Proselytizer
Tech 26, $1,000

This implant is designed to aid Cyberchurch priests in addressing their flock, or anyone else who is eager to spread the word. When activated (a free action) the Proselytizer amplifies the user's voice and also subtly alters it to make it sound more authoritative. The speaker's Persuasion skill is Favored, although only when used against humans or near-humans like elves and dwarves (non-humans such as edeinos or intelligent monsters have different unconscious biases about what a leaders should sound like).

Tower of Babel MK I
Tech 26, $3,000

The Tower of Babel is a favorite of missionaries and Malraux's forward agents, as it helps them move more freely in foreign lands thanks to its vast knowledge of human languages and customs. It can recognize most languages and infer the use of others, written and spoken, and in doing so serve as a personal translator for the user. A HUD places familiar words over foreign writing, and spoken language is lowered in volume and accompanied by a translation. The user can additionally call upon the implant to translate their own speech; they can subvocalize what they intend to say and the Tower of Babel will display a phonetic translation via the HUD.

The Tower of Babel contains no knowledge of non-human languages.

The Mark I is known to be rather buggy; its ability to interpret language and infer its meaning on the fly often produces glitches. When making tests with the aid of the implant, a Mishap occurs on a roll of 1-4, which results in a disastrous mis-translation.

Sounds interesting, but names can be reconsidered for the sake of existing oTorg cyberware and TorgE shield.

oTorg Cyberpapacy Sourcebook has Data Audio Systems (DATAS) Boomer voice amplifier implant(and typical NPC Cyberpriest and PC template Dissenting Priest both have it), although stat effects of voice amplification is unspecified.
(Maybe intimidation can be enhanced with larger voice, too?)

Translation implant will be useful for missionaries, but the name Tower of Babel is already used for a TorgE cyberpapal tower shield.
Maybe Glossolalia/Xenoglossia-related name can be suitable for the implant.
(By the way, language-disrupting neural attacks can be interesting, but is it easier to simply paralyzing the target?)

Rather than Tower of babel for the translator, how about Tongues of Pentecost? (That being the event in the New Testament where the Apostles were speaking and people from all over could understand them in their various native languages - regarded as a direct undoing (at least for a moment) the curse of Bael.) Fires of Pentecost would also suit, due to the visual manifestation in that passage.
"Praise the Lord from the earth, Ye dragons who serve His Word;
For fiery praise is fit to raise To the Maker of Heaven and Earth"

-Kemper Crabb (para Ps 148)

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the shield.

I like it! I knew Babel was sort of the anti-"everyone can understand me" event but for some reason it's become associated with universal translators, maybe because of Douglas Adams.

I can see something that targets the neural pathways of languag being very powerful. For large scale battles, not having squads or armies being able to coordinate attacks and tactics because nobody understands each other would be a game changer.
For the PCs this would mean they couldn't share cards between pools, the supporter card would be nullified. For MOBs they couldn't do combined actions.
