Tell me of your Core Earth characters

Postby Wakshani » Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:02 pm

Either ones you've played, will play, or that others are playing in your game.

they can be Core Earth natives fighting the good fight or former servants of the High Lords who switched sides, Transformed, and now fight for the world they once called a foe.

But, all the same, they're Core Earthers.

Because I see tons of cool characters from elsewhere but I feel like the home team's getting overlooked.

So, if you'd care to share, I'd love to hear about them.

Oof. Looks like he went down at some stage.

Sadness. Hope he went well!

My players came up with:
* A teenage street gangster who's always looking for hidden cameras waiting to capture his heroics who is turning into a Realm Runner archetype.
* A corporate IT specialist who seeks to use the Internet to perform magical rituals.
* A jungle survivalist with telekinesis.
* A crazy, fervently-religious and paranoid housekeeper turned demon-hunter.
* A historian who doesn't know anything about history and just fakes it with the Copycat psionic power.
* A Cuban Revolutionary Guard "torturer" (actually just a telepath) who decided to turn a new leaf

You can find a bit more about them here (under Player Characters): viewtopic.php?f=30&t=3637

Breaking the 4th wall a bit... I had a PC who was a computer programmer who was into roleplaying games and scifi. So computer skill, persuasion, reality and scholar (roleplaying). That may sound a bit boring, but it gave the player the excuse that he knew how the themes in each realm worked and could metagame a bit. The PC almost knew he was in a game. He ended up being committed into a Victorian asylum and never seen again...

My group has two characters who are Core Earth.
Though the Pan Pacifica character also acts as if she is from CE, as they are still unravelling the Kanawa invasion there. The last mission they ran has pretty much pushed the DC from wariness to active opposition now however.

Leesa Feng
An International Cat Burglar originally from Hong Kong, though has spent significant time in Egypt. Whether due to the companionship she found there or the plentiful opportunities to use her professional abilities she does not disclose.

Her Moment of Crisis came during a jewellery raid on a high rise apartment in Shaghai when a Jiangshi outbreak occurred. She claims that she only dropped the jewels to save herself. Recovered CCTV of the Jiangshi being drawn off by a shadowy figure as a young family escapes suggests otherwise.

This character has the reputation of knowing someone everywhere. If there is a connections card to be played, she is the one who is playing it 90% of the time. Of course sometimes these connections aren't friendly, but that is what I use the Mistaken Identity card for when she plays it.

Jared McIntyre
Lead Actor on Ad Astra, the highest rated American TV show for the last 2 Seasons, known for his extreme preparedness in researching his characters and their skills. An All American hero of the small screen he was promoting the latest season from the International Space Station when the first Maelstrom Bridges hit. Large billboards advertising the show can be found decaying across the East & West coasts.

His Moment of Crisis came when the Space Shuttle he was returning in, ‘Resolution’, hit the living land axioms and its crew disconnected. Calling on his training for Ad Astra and the promotion mission itself he successfully took control and brought her in.
((This is actually a character the player used in my last TORG campaign 15 years ago, clearly a veteran of the wars))

The closest thing my party has to a leader and with his fame how most people react. Has developed a sort of friendship with the leader of Storm Break, as the leader views him as a 'proper' American hero from his perception of his TV character. Though the appreciation is mostly one way.

Kurt Jager
A German born military veteran and stand-in stuntman for b-list celebrities. A Jack of all trades, master of none, a linguist, prodigal, adaptable, realm runner. He has a trademark custom built hummer for travelling between the realms. He has weapons from each realm to use as well as black leather armour and gloves.

He has become quite famous as he pulls off amazing stunts with anything that has an engine and some things that don't.

He has become famous in his own right with shocktroopers, church police and kanawa security forces quitting the field at the meer mention of his name. He always announces who he is before combat to try to get a players call on intimidation checks. He also makes sure that at least one enemy is left alive to tell the tale of what happened.

Eventually his exploits became propaganda for thr DC so we decided that Kurt had his own comic series and the kids adore him.

"Kurt Jager, what a guy!"

I made a Core Earth guy for Dark Skies when other folks are running. He's Blake Rodriguez, a former Secret Service agent who had his Moment of Crisis protecting the U.S. President (not sure which one - lot of government turnover in Torg). Since the group was a bit low on macho action dude energy, he's kind of your basic square-jawed type and had a real problem with the one edeinos on the squad at the outset. He eventually overcame his anti-lizard stance but remains dubious about his new friends' desire to keep the Living Land in his native homeland. He also doesn't know how he feels about Quinn Sebastian - he knows too much. ;)

He's helped stage a breakout from a Tharkold fortress, stolen a super-weapon, and shot a whole lot of Lurks. Its been a while since I sat back from GMing but I always enjoy playing him.
