Small Groups and Possibilities

Postby TorgHacker » Wed Sep 13, 2017 10:25 pm

I just asked Tia this question but figured it might be worth polling.

If you select an option that Possibilities are either too many or too few, reply here to say roughly how often all of the Cosm cards get played.

In a 3 player group, the players have often run short of Possibilities.

Short answer: No, they haven't been playing all the Cosm cards.

Long Answer is in another topic.

Ran through the Day One adventures with a three person party. By the end of each adventure there was usually a single cosm card left. Possibilities varied. One player frequently ran out, but that's his playing style; one was reasonably conservative; the final liked to keep a couple as a reserve, but would use them in a dramatic fight as needed. Overall, I thought the balance worked fairly well. I just need to remember to give out Possibilities for good roleplay more often... :?

Ran a 3 person party through the Day One LL adventure. The players used all of their Cosm cards and possibilities by the end of each Act, but felt right overall. This was with a party with one experienced player and 2 players who had never played an RPG before.

The experienced player seemed to balance out the inexperienced players, as their inclination was to hoard the possibilities, unless prompted by the veteran.

Even though possibilities were basically exhausted by the end of each Act, that felt about right and kept the players from taking possibilities for granted. Also kept a high tension level through all of the encounters, which at the end everyone agreed made for a fun adventure.
